Students for The Exploration & Development of Space in Sri Lanka
History
SEDS was founded as a chapter-based organization in 1980 at MIT by Peter Diamandis, at Princeton University by Scott Scharfman, and at Yale University by Richard Sorkin. SEDS-USA was founded as a national group in 1982 by Peter Diamandis, Bob Richards, and Todd Hawley.
Later on, more national groups formed and operated under SEDS Earth. Each SEDS Nations had their own collective of local chapters: paving way to its vast global presence. SEDS Sri Lanka was founded by Mr. Amila Basnayaka and Mr. Thilan Harshana in 2018.
Since its induction, it has been the most active and widespread astronomy-related organization in the region. SEDS SL hosts a multitude of engineering projects, from a regional stand-point to those representing the nation, competing and achieving success at an international scale!
